Are You An Early Bird Or A Night Owl?
First of all, find out who you are
Before reading the article, you must have some ideas about which sleeping pattern you prefer. Do you tend to be a morning lover (an early bird) or an evening tracker(a night owl)? It’s not hard to find the traits
For example, if you prefer to wake up early in the morning and enjoy a beautiful breakfast with music, or take some morning exercises and a refreshing shower, you are most likely an early bird. You probably have 2-3 hours a day for these activities before leaving for the workplace. As a morning person, your most likely appreciate the phrase “the early bird gets the worm” and love to lead a “healthy life”.
How about a night owl? They almost always miss the first light of sunshine but never fail to catch a feel of the deep night. For the night owl, the most beautiful time and the biggest stage for personal show time all start after sunset. They can do as many things as they want in the deep of the night, whether it is a noisy party with rock hard music or quiet reading and writing sessions. The night owl is commonly described with the phrase “the second mouse gets the cheese”.
So which one is better?
Let’s discuss the pros and cons of these two types of lifestyles.
Several kinds of research have proven that the night owl is more intelligent than the early bird. One of the studies concurs test evidence: “Those with a childhood IQ of less than 75 (‘very dull’) go to bed around 23:41 on weeknights in early adulthood, whereas those with a childhood IQ of over 125 (‘very bright’) go to bed around 00:29.” And they are the more proactive cause of the burst of energy. The interesting thing is that even though smarter people are always active at night, the morning lover is proactive. Due to our 9-6 working routine for most jobs and school studies, people with higher energy on the daily are considered more effective and exhibit better work performance.
It is commonly conceived that the early bird is much healthier than the night owl, and it is actually true. When you think about it, people who wake up in the later hours of the morning have brunch instead of breakfast and lunch, and they don’t partake in morning exercises such as the morning run or yoga-like the early bird does. To be clear, evening exercise is awesome too, but the morning person gets more sleep than the night person. For example, they can take a nap between 1-3 PM, which is essential to boost their energy and in most cases they go to bed between 8 PM and 9 PM.
Which one is better? Actually, it’s hard to say. However, it seems that whichever type you are, if you know more about your body, your mind, and the kind of life you really enjoy, then you are a winner and the master of yourself.
